Executive Director

Eustache Jean-Louis, MD., MPH is the Executive Director of Center for Community Health, Education & Research, Inc. The former head of the HIV Services for the Haitian AIDS Project, Eustache started working with the agency in 1987. He was also instrumental in working with the Board back in 1994 to change the name of Haitian AIDS Project to the Center for Community Health, Education & Research, Inc. This direction provides CCHER new opportunity to address wider health disparities facing the community.

Eustache brings many years of experience working with the US Haitian community in the area of TB, HIV, substance abuse, diabetes, mental health care. He is currently very much involved in developing health and educational programs for the American Haitian Federation targeting rural areas of Haiti.

Eustache demonstrates by his past track record in bringing and directing grants from: Department of Health & Human services/Office of Minority Health; Human Resources Service Administration/ Special Project of National Significance; Substance Abuse Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA; Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC- current grant) REACH 2010 Phase II, and (past) HIV Capacity Building Project; and Center Mental Health Service (CMHS) for developing mental health program for Haitians living with HIV and their families.

Eustache is a public health practitioner, an administrator and he still maintains his participation in community-based participatory approach to research. He currently serves as the Principal Investigator for both the CDC-funded REACH 2010 and Casey Foundation funded Diabetes and Obesity Study project.

He was the Chair for the National Haitian American Health Alliance. He was also the Senior Technical Advisor for the American Haitian Federation and the Director of CCHER’s Haiti Projects.

He authored and co-authored numerous publications from the Journal of Drugs & Society, (2000) Journal of Community Care (2000), Journal of National Association of Ethnic Studies (2002) to Journal of Ethnicity & Disease (2004).

He obtained his BA from Northeastern University, his Master in Public Health from Boston University School of Public Health and His medical degree from Universidad De Cetec in the Dominican Republic.
