Center for Community Health, Education & Research (CCHER) CCHER has more than 26 years of advocacy for the right to health care and providing direct social, health, behavioral and prevention services to our clients and their families. CCHER is the current sub-recipient of a grant funded by the National REACH Coalition (NRC), a major recipient of the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC). NRC is responsible for supporting the metro Boston Haitian community to strategically organize to implement and evaluate healthy eating and active living that eliminate racial and ethnic health disparities in chronic diseases. With the formation of a Community Leadership Team (CLT), CCHER is working together with the Haitian community to advocate and promote systemic changes for a healthy community. CCHER is working together with CLT by taking actions through selecting public health strategies to bring healthy eating and active living awareness to members of the larger Haitian community. CCHER is pleased to nationally join 15 other sub recipient grantees funded by the National REACH Coalition. News from Ccher 2022 The Public Health Equity Young Scholars Summer Enrichment Program 2022 CCHER ran the Public health program exploring opportunities in careers for under-represented students.The SPHHS faculty are also invloved in activities and offer infromation on topics concerning health. The department of health offered financial help and so we were able to support 2nd year students with very much a hands-on program of supoprt. The topics included mental health as usual but also course and support on immigrant health as part of the support scheme. Last year CCHER ran the UMass Amherst Centre in Springfield, where participants receive cash support during the process of learning about many foundational public health programs.>/p> For all related information, call CCHER : (617) 265-0628 ext 226 .
